Dear Shop Hoppers,
With 2006 Shop Hop just a short time away, the shops are busy preparing for your visit. Here are some new developments regarding the big event.
Pick up the Western Washington Quilt Shop Hop Newsletter currently at any of the 55 participating shops. Time to start planning your shop hop trip using the 2005 shop hop journal with maps and driving directions. You may also get an alpha or numbered list of the participating shops on the shop hop website: www.westernwashingtonquiltshophop.com Important to map out your trip using mapquest or google or get the designated driver to do this for you. Get organized early to make your trip stress free and fun.
Theme fabric is shipping now and most shops will be offering pre-sales on the fabric. Reminder that the fabric cannot actually hop out of the shop until the beginning of shop hop on June 21st. Shops will begin making samples using the fabric and cutting their blocks. We are expecting upwards of 3000 people. Wow, that's great.
Passports can be picked up at the shops beginning on June 1st. This will be the complete listing of all shops. Things change up until the last minute. Kids passports too will be available.
Share the driving! The more the merrier, or the farther your gasoline dollars will go. Its more fun too to shop hop with a small group. Bring water and snacks for the car trip. Pace yourself and stretch out your dollars. Make notes along the way about what you bought and where you bought it.

A word on the fabric: This years fabric offered from In The Beginning Fabrics is a multi-colored print using the iconic themes of Western Washington. This fabric is directional with a 6 inch repeat. This needs to be considered when thinking about your usages for your projects. The shop hop quilt using the theme fabric in borders is estimated to use 2.75 yards. Think too about tote bags, tablecloths, napkins, placemats, dorm quilts, car quilts and more. At Gathering Fabric Quilt Shop were are coming up with all kinds of projects ideas which will be offered in kits during shop hop.
The theme fabric is fantastic and I wonder if we will ever see such a stunning example of our Pacific Northwest interpreted in fabric again like this. Bee sure to get as much as you need. The fabric is limited to the Western Washington Quilt Shops only. Thanks to Jason and Ben Yenter for this fabulous fabric for 2006. We are loving it.
